Draper Memory Lane Stroll - June 17, 2016
On Friday, June 17 at 11 a.m., the public was invited to a groundbreaking ceremony and Draper Memory Lane Stroll Benefiting the Mohonasen Foundation. The event was a tremendous success for the Foundation and the Town of Rotterdam to re-purpose the old Draper School into Draper Lofts, a modern apartment community to be built in a historical setting. Immediately following the groundbreaking ceremony, retired teachers and Draperians lead tours through the vacant school while reminiscing about its heyday. Another feature of the fundraiser was that the Mohonasen Foundation sold architectural salvage items, including classroom doors, wood from gym bleachers, and pieces of the auditorium curtain. That portion of program ran from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Some snacks and beverages were also available care of Tops American Grill with funds supporting the Foundation.
From this event the Foundation was able to raise just over $2,200 due to the generous donations of the community to continue our mission of supporting innovative educational opportunities for the Mohonasen Community.
